As one of our readers Tim Sandstrom commented, Scott Armstrong was live on the pH pHactor this morning in Bismarck, North Dakota. A link to this site is up on their page.

KFYR’s pH pHactor is hosted by Phil Parker and Jason Hulm, and airs Monday through Friday 5:30am-9:00am.

Your bet tracks the warming because it is based-upon short intervals. You are relying on measurement noise masking the actual rise in a year. If you were serious about this bet, you would bet over a longer period of time and as you doubtless realise this cancels-out the noise of measurement, making your risk much greater!

Structuring the bet this way limits your risk and it biases the ‘bet’ unfairly towards yourselves and away from takers. That way you limit your losses and appear to show people like Al Gore in a bad light, and get yourselves publicity at the same time.

Obviously, your motives are political and are not scientific. If you were to make the bet fair by placing it over a longer period, then you’d have more takers. I doubt you’ve got the balls!
